Our Environmental Profile at Classic Norway Hotels is rooted in a genuine desire to honour the unique places where we are privileged to be guests. We view this responsibility as an essential part of the authentic experience we offer, and as a matter of deep respect for nature, local culture, and history.
As part of this profound commitment, we work systematically and purposefully through the Miljøfyrtårn (Environmental Lighthouse) certification. An environmental profile is a documented management system that helps businesses control their climate and environmental work, ensuring continuous improvement. This is an accredited national environmental certification that obligates us to continuous enhancement.
A full 72% of our member hotels are Miljøfyrtårn certified. We extend this dedication by focusing on two of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) (selected in 2021):
Goal 4 – Quality Education (4.4): We are committed to being a safe learning environment, offering enhanced competence to all staff via the CN Academy. We encourage further education and aim to increase formal vocational training by 10% over a three-year period.
Goal 12 – Responsible Consumption and Production (12.3): Our kitchens are dedicated to honouring ingredients and minimising waste. We map food waste annually and aim to reduce it by 10% over a two-year period, contributing to the UN’s goal of halving global food waste.
Our initiatives yield results. Through targeted efforts, we have reduced our total energy consumption and achieved a pleasing reduction in energy consumption per square metre across the entire group.
As part of our transparent environmental pledge, we publish our annual corporate report, which provides a deeper insight into all our environmental work and our Environmental Profile at Classic Norway.
